bedwetting 01 Bedwetting

Many children are punished for bedwetting when this condition is actually beyond their conscious control. Naturally poor bladder control at night happens up to 4-5 years old. After this age, if bedwetting continues this is a sign that something is not right.

How and Why?

There are 2 major muscles that control the emptying of the bladder. Nerves that exit the spinal column in the lumbar spine and sacrum control these muscles. If, during the early stages of the sacrum developing (up to 5 years) this area is subject to trauma i.e. falls off a bike, landing on the bottom when learning to walk, this can cause “subluxations”.

Can Chiropractic Care Help?

If we find these “subluxations” through a thorough chiropractic examination, by careful gentle adjustments, normal nerve supply is restored to these muscles. Removing nerve interference or irritation will allow the muscles to function properly. While chiropractic care is not a treatment for bedwetting, countless children have been helped.
